Real Name: Kyle
IGN: Krick88
Age: 23
How Long have you been on the server:
I have been a member on the server since late March of this year, 2015.
What position you're looking for:
Helper
Why do you want to help?: Practicality, consistency, experience, and convenience. For the past year, I have worked in the retail world as either a sales associate or a supervisor. Although at times it gets a little stressful or overwhelming, I can honestly say that I wouldn't still be here if I hadn't found some way to enjoy my job. As some of you may know, being successful in retail takes more than just showing up. In order to climb the ranks, you must display a willingness and aptitude to learn new things. You must be able to multitask. You must be able to rally others and work as a team. Most importantly, you must be able to identify something that needs to be done and then actually take control of the situation in do it. This means that when a customer needs assistance, you identify the situation and approach the customer even if you're already busy resetting a merchandise planogram or restocking a shelf. In retail sales, we are accustomed to asking open-ended questions to determine how we may be of assistance to a customer. We are our own detectives, and with a little bit of quick thinking, a lot of knowledge about the product across the entire store, and just a dash of confidence, we can make sure that nearly everyone gets what they want or need.
I want to help because I see similarities between the helper job and my current real world job. I have experience helping people in the real world, and the familiarity with the community on the server to be effective as a helper. Pair this with my consistent time online (7am EST - 11am EST or later) and I could, for convenience's sake, become the only helper available to players during this time period.
What makes you stand out?:
In a crude and simplistic sense, I stand out from other players on the server because I've donated and thus have a cool title and an unusual colored nickname for others to see.
In all seriousness though, this question is very hard to answer considering the nature in which it is asked... What is unique about me when I am compared to the rest of the players here on the server, or even the rest of the people who seem to be submitting staff applications? When you take a step back and look at the demographics, we are a fairly small and unique group when compared to the rest of the communities on the internet or even in other places across the world. In the broadest sense, you and I are here to play minecraft and pokemon. We are obviously educated and curious enough to have or search for the knowledge to allow us to spend our leisure time this way.
And even when we take our our microscope and zoom in on what we really think makes us different, we're still the same: Someone may think of themselves as unique because they are a university student, only to find out later on down the road that there are indeed a handful of people here in the same boat.
Scientifically speaking we are doomed to remain the same because as Homo sapiens we share approximately 99% of the same DNA.
So what's my 1%?
Is it my high school diploma? My Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Eastern Connecticut State University? My ethnicity? My Nationality? My age? My Name?
Probably not.
The cold hard truth is that I almost answered this question with an "I don't know."
Almost...
No. What makes me stand out is my ability to dissect a simple question and analyze all of the complex parts beneath, just like a frog, or a mouse, or a cat. My ability to take "what makes me stand out" and turn it into "who am I?"
I'll be honest, I didn't read all of the applications on the forums. But of the ones I did read, I didn't see an answer such as this one.
That is what makes me unique.
What is your time zone?:
I am located in the Eastern Standard Timezone (EST) of the US (that is also GMT -4).
Extra Notes: Thanks for taking the time to read my application! All anecdotes aside, I really do think that I would make a great helper somewhere down the road. Hope to see all sorts of feedback! Alaskan Snoe Dragon
